The ILTP team had another fulfilling day of service with United Way in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Since 1957, United Way has been dedicated to supporting the greater Grand Forks area through a wide range of programs designed to uplift children and families. Their initiatives include Families First, the Backpack Program, the Larimore Food Pantry, the Winter Wishlist, Car Seats for Kids, and the Kidz Closet. On this occasion, ILTP staff contributed their time to the Kidz Closet program, where they spent two hours sorting donated children’s clothing by category to prepare them for distribution to local families. The team found the work both rewarding and eye-opening, as they witnessed firsthand the impact of United Way’s commitment to supporting the community. During their time volunteering, the ILTP team engaged in meaningful conversations with other volunteers. One especially inspiring story came from Ms. Jenifer, a program coordinator, who shared how her young son developed a passion for helping others by volunteering alongside her. She emphasized the importance of teaching children to give back and be a force for good—a touching reminder of the long-term value of community service. This day of giving held extra significance as ILTP staff member Marjun celebrated his birthday by volunteering. Choosing to spend his special day in service to others added a heartfelt layer of purpose and celebration to the team’s efforts. ILTP is grateful for the opportunity to partner with United Way and looks forward to continuing this meaningful collaboration. Special thanks to all the volunteers and staff who make this important work possible!
It sounds like the FICA's inaugural Pioneer Award and Gala was a remarkable event that celebrated the achievements and contributions of various individuals within the Filipino community. It's great to hear that Mr. Hyung Ki Kim and the ILTP staff were able to participate, particularly in presenting the President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) 2024 to two deserving young individuals. Dr. Greg Agulan's recognition with the Lifetime Achievement Award and Mr. Kim's receipt of the 1st Pioneer Award from FICA are both significant honors that underscore their dedication to civic engagement and social responsibility.
Congratulations to all the award recipients, and kudos to FICA for organizing such a successful and meaningful event! Today marked the beginning of our highly anticipated workshop, and we were thrilled to welcome our participants with a comprehensive introduction, engaging lectures, and a scenic tour along the Hudson River.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Jean for delivering a thoughtful introduction to ILTP, enlightening participants about our purpose, vision, and mission. Her words set the tone for a meaningful and impactful experience. Inspiring Discussions. Following a delightful Korean meal, Mr. Kim presented a video of Father Moon's speech at the Bicentennial God Bless America Festival, sparking a thought-provoking discussion about America's role in the world and the significance of its people. The day culminated in a picturesque tour of the Hudson River, featuring stunning views of the George Washington Bridge and the harbor from Ross Dock Picnic Park. Participants enjoyed a delightful berry-picking experience at Alpine Marina and a leisurely walk along the Piermont Pier. Although the weather was hot, the experience was truly rewarding! Thanks to Mr. Kim for explaining everything to our Korean-speaking participants, ensuring an inclusive and engaging experience for all. |
