The ILTP team had another fulfilling day of service with United Way in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Since 1957, United Way has been dedicated to supporting the greater Grand Forks area through a wide range of programs designed to uplift children and families. Their initiatives include Families First, the Backpack Program, the Larimore Food Pantry, the Winter Wishlist, Car Seats for Kids, and the Kidz Closet. On this occasion, ILTP staff contributed their time to the Kidz Closet program, where they spent two hours sorting donated children’s clothing by category to prepare them for distribution to local families. The team found the work both rewarding and eye-opening, as they witnessed firsthand the impact of United Way’s commitment to supporting the community. During their time volunteering, the ILTP team engaged in meaningful conversations with other volunteers. One especially inspiring story came from Ms. Jenifer, a program coordinator, who shared how her young son developed a passion for helping others by volunteering alongside her. She emphasized the importance of teaching children to give back and be a force for good—a touching reminder of the long-term value of community service. This day of giving held extra significance as ILTP staff member Marjun celebrated his birthday by volunteering. Choosing to spend his special day in service to others added a heartfelt layer of purpose and celebration to the team’s efforts. ILTP is grateful for the opportunity to partner with United Way and looks forward to continuing this meaningful collaboration. Special thanks to all the volunteers and staff who make this important work possible!
