In preparation for the vibrant spring season, ILTP volunteers rolled up their sleeves and took part in a park cleanup event at Branch Brook Park on March 29, 2025. Partnering with the Branch Brook Park Alliance, the team worked together to help refresh and protect one of Newark’s most treasured green spaces.
Under the guidance of volunteer leader Ms. Summer, participants received a brief orientation outlining the day’s goals. Their first task: clearing leaves and debris from different areas of the park. This essential step made way for fertilizer soil to be applied—supporting the healthy growth of spring flowers throughout the park. To help preserve the beauty of these blooming spaces, volunteers also installed fencing around flower beds and delicate vegetation. These protective barriers will help ensure that park visitors can enjoy the scenery without disturbing the plants. The teamwork and dedication shown by both ILTP volunteers and the Branch Brook Park Alliance made a meaningful impact. Together, they helped create a cleaner, safer, and more welcoming environment for the entire community to enjoy this spring and beyond.

Today, March 22, 2025, was an incredibly productive day of collaboration at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore in the Capital District! Everyone the team worked with was genuinely supportive! A huge thank you to Mr. Thomas, Ms. Emilie and Ms. Nina for their assistance, as well as to our fellow volunteers, Ben and the rest of the team!
Our volunteers not only understand the mission of the organization but also actively help prepare the store for opening by organizing, pricing, and cleaning. When customers arrived, they delivered excellent customer service and offered assistance with both large and small furniture items! Everyone had a great time, and the customers expressed their appreciation with kind words! It's hard to believe this team managed to see so many NYC attractions in just one day. It was incredible! No matter the weather, nothing could hold them back! They had an absolute blast.
Our ILTP participants had an amazing time exploring the nation’s capital!
From visiting the Lincoln Memorial to walking through the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial, every stop was full of meaning. Being in those historic places helped everyone connect with the stories and people who shaped this country. They walked the National Mall, saw the U.S. Capitol up close, and visited museums and monuments that brought history to life. For many, it was their first time seeing these sights in person—and it left a big impression. But beyond just sightseeing, the trip sparked real conversations. It reminded everyone how important it is to stand up for what’s right, care for others, and be leaders who make a difference in their own way. This adventure through D.C. wasn’t just a trip—it was a powerful experience that brought the past into the present and gave our participants a lot to think about as they look to the future. |
